Sarah firmly believes supporting and mentoring young stage designers through hiring assistants, and offering internship opportunities for student designers who are still engaged in their studies. Studio tasks can include: building model boxes, script analysis, creating prop lists and research, conducting visual research, sketching (hand or digital), photoshop, drafting, sketch models, white models, finished color models, and creating paint elevations.
More importantly, Sarah believes in connecting her assistants with her colleagues to build professional relationships (and hopefully some friendships!), which will help them launch their careers. Depending on the projects and schedules, Sarah brings her assistants to production meetings, designer runs, technical and dress rehearsals, and previews.
All assistants are paid for their time, talent, and skill. As a part of recognizing the collaborative nature of theatre, and the theatrical process of design, all assistants who are currently working in Sarah's studio are featured below.
Please take the time to get to know them, as well as view their online portfolios.
